RASCAL VAN // NIGHT HAWK

  • Hi-Fidelity 200 Anderson Street Portland, ME, 04101 United States (map)

Rascal Van had a strong showing during their first performance at Hi-Fidelity and this wintery performance will undoubtedly be another evening full of great music performed by some very talented young musicians. Night Hawk played our space just a few months ago in a condenced set up, but we’ve asked them to join Rascal Van with their full band this time around!

From the band’s website:

Night Hawk is a Maine-based outfit led by Colter Adams and Peyton Joy, whose music often blurs the line between alternative rock and performance art. Featuring a rotating cast of the most intrepid and innovative players in the New England underground, the project revolves around the question: what do Edward Hopper's paintings sound like?

Night Hawk's music is defined by stark geometry and bold imagery, underpinned by a deep and overwhelming sense of melancholia and repose. Drawing on Soir Bleu (1914), Automat (1927), Night Hawks (1942), Morning Sun (1952), and other Hopper works, Adams and Joy write and perform achingly intimate songs of isolation and disconnect; of dwelling in our depths, licking our wounds, and stumbling a little bit as we try to better ourselves and our situations. Brutally honest, powerfully self-reflective, and deeply relatable, their music hurts in the very best of ways.

To date, Night Hawk has released six singles, performed at venues and galleries across the Northeast, and grown a thousands-strong audience by word-of-mouth and electric live performances. The band has supported and shared the stage with national touring artists including Y La Bamba, Lady Lamb, Dino Gala, and Dead Gowns, and sold out headline shows in New York City, Boston, and Portland, ME.
